2.0 out of 5 stars Definitely would not purchase again, September 11, 2011
This review is from: Soft & Dri Anti-Perspirant Deodorant, Soft Scent, 6 oz (170 g) (Health and Beauty)
I have been using stick deodorants for years, and decided to change things up a bit by trying a spray on the recommendation of an article on a beauty website. The article even mentioned this deodorant by name, so I thought that it would be a safe bet, but oh, how wrong I was...

The smell is very strong, and it overpowers any other scent which you might wish to use: perfumes, body sprays, lotions, etc. all get washed out by this fragrance. It lasts through the day, but I did not find it to be at all pleasant. However, the worst part about this spray is the white residue it leaves. I know that most deodorants leave some residue, but this was really just ridiculous. I got white powder all over my clothing, my chair, even my sheets when I had gone to bed.

Overall, I just don't think that this antiperspirant is worth buying. Although it was moderately effective, the whole experience was so poor that I would not recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect first "growing up" book for the preteen girl, June 4, 2001

This review is from: Growing Up: It's a Girl Thing (Paperback)
I have been searching for a book for my daughter (she turned 10 today!) that will help me to explain some of what will be happening to her body over the next few years. So many of the books contain too much information about sex, birth control, etc., that I feel is more appropriate for an older girl (say, 13 and up). This book, though, is just perfect for her age. It touches on all the things I think are important (breast development, first period, pubic hair and so forth). The information, language and tone of this book are just right for a girl who is still a little girl but who will not be for much longer. I am totally comfortable with reading this book to my daughter and then discussing it with her over time. I am sure she will want to take it to read on her own later, too. A wonderful book that I cannot recommend strongly enough for 9-13 year old girls.

5.0 out of 5 stars 8 Yr Old Daughter Thanks Mom for Bringing Up "Yucky Stuff", January 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Growing Up: It's a Girl Thing (Paperback)
I was sure that my 8 year old daughter would find this book "yucky" and it started out that way: She colored while I read, pretending to ignore me completely as I described the changes to her body which will occur over the next few years. Occasionally, she'd say "gross" or act shocked that I would even mention such things. But as time went on and I continued reading, she slowed coloring and over time began asking tentative, then more direct questions. Several times, things had to be re-read. A few times, she mentioned that what I read was different, and less scary, than the information she had learned from kids at school. (I hid my surprise that I wasn't the first to mention these topics.) Over the next few days, I continued to read the book to her during times we were alone and during times she appeared receptive. I was amazed that basic information about one's body would be perceived as it were the holy grail of third grade. By the final chapter my... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent source of information for young and older., July 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Growing Up: It's a Girl Thing (Paperback)
My 10-year old stepdaughter started her first period while staying with us for the summer. I was worried about her comfort level with me in regards to the subject. I found this book in the local library and it was perfect. It is written in a straight-forward, but very comfortable manner. She read it front to back in about an hour, then she came to me and we looked through it together. It made conversation on the subject of puberty very easy. I learned things that nobody ever told me. I give it two THUMBS UP !!

5.0 out of 5 stars best deodorant I have tried, June 17, 2011

I sweat a lot and have tried manu different types of deodorants. I have tried the spray, gel stick, and the white style stick. The spray was never enough nor did I feel it helped with the smell. The gel I felt was good but did not last long, if I put it on in the morning by the afternoon I felt I had no deodorant on. The arm and hammer lasts a long time, the powder fresh actually smells good not like sport soap or gym soap. The only draw back is the white marks it leaves when you put on a shirt, but the drawback is well worth over clear gel in my opinion. It contains smell VERY well.It is more expensive that the white stick comparables at cosco but I still feel those do not smell/last like this one. If you wear undershirts or are good at preventing the white marks it can leave go with this you won't be disappointed. NOTE: its hard to find at stores, in my area at least, and it is somewhat expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars love it, May 15, 2009
This review is from: Arm & Hammer Ultramax Deodorant and Antiperspirant Invisible Solid, Powder Fresh, 2.6-Ounce Stick (Pack of 6) (Health and Beauty)
Tired of sweating so much, I decided to try Secret Clinical. It smelled funny and didn't work that well after awhile. And when I sweat, it smelled gross. I tried Degree Clinical. It smelled slightly better but didn't work much better. And both were very expensive for OTC deodorant. Enter Arm & Hammer.

I read about this on someone else's review of one of the clinical deodorants. I checked it out and saw that it has the same amount of active ingredient as the clinicals but costs the same as ordinary deodorant. I got it, tried it, and loved it. I've been using it for well over a year. It doesn't prevent perspiration completely, but when applied at night, it does just as well as or better than the clinicals and costs half as much or less. Excellent.
